4TH ROUND REVIEW

The end of the 4th round of the 34th NATO Chess Championship finds two Greeks at the top: IM Dimitris Alexakis (2504 ELO) and FM Petros Rachmanidis (2219 ELO) with an absolute number of wins in as many games (4 out of 4). We remind you that, according to the regulations, the two players, because they belong to the same team, will not face each other.

In places 3-8 there is a six-way tie with 3.5 points in 4 games: FM Robert Stein, FM Alexandros Papasimakopoulos, FM Finn Pedersen, Andrew Jeselson, WGM Dana Reizniece – Ozola, Patryk Michalowski.

FM Stein got his blood back by beating IM Tasos Pavlidis while FM Alexandros Papasimakopoulos managed to grab a draw with a triple replay from WGM Dana Riezniece – Ozola in his opponent’s time pressure.

At the group level, there were several rearrangements with Greece only remaining in 1st place with 14.5 points, in 2nd-3rd place the USA tied with Poland with 12.5 points.
